Hi;

I need to find a DOS/ Windows text editor so I can view CP/M library files
that I have found on FTP. Windows notepad reduces them to gibberish. I would
like to be bale to print them also so I can transcribe them to files to use
with CP/M on a z100 system.

???

Well Markco, the first thing I suggest is that you get a copy of Carson
Wilson's fine program CFX (Cp/m File eXchange) which has the capability
to extract files from .LBR archives, and also to expand them if they are
compressed by any of the three modes used by CP/M - Squeeze(Q), Crunch(Z),
or LZH(Y). It will not extract files from .ARK archives, but can be used
to expand them after extraction with PKXARC or ARCE. You will need to
change the extension on the archive to ARC from ARK, however.

CFX is available on various websites on the net, or from my ftp dropbox
at //ftp.cts.com/users/d/o/donm/cfx.zip.

The next thing that I suggest is that you drop out of that miserable
Windoze and work from the DOS command line to get your files. It will
be much easier.

There is CFX for DOS and NULU for DOS and CP/M, which packs and unpacks
.LBR files. They both work!

What might make this more convenient is that you can run one of the
popular CP/M emulators on your PC and use the CP/M tools to view these
libraries. There's a program called LU (of which NULU is a later
version) that works fine, and SWEEP is another file management utility
that will process libraries.

I haven't seen either of these in years, but they're out there.

Besides Steve and Dons comments (get CFX or NULU) or better all of the

of the DOS/win based archivers. The other is DUMP notepad and find
something like Texturizer as a replacement.

I made the jump from dos to win3.1 to NT4/workstation and I still
run Myz80, and all of the handy cpm tools.

In article <39cd0f89...@news.bellatlantic.net>,

CFX sounds like a worthwhile thing to have around on a DOS system, if
it will handle LBRs, sqz, crunch, etc. (I had something to do with the
origincal crunch/uncrunch, LDATE, etc.). However CFX is nowhere to be
found. How about some URLs? Source?
