We have a Z-100, model Z-101-34.
We have an original non-modified motherboard 2806 with 768 KB of memory
and a Heath videocard with 64 KB. 8 color monitor, and an external 8"
floppy drive.
We put it together with parts from 3 computers (Z-111-22, Z-101-34,
ZF-111-22). So far, we can boot it from a floppy, but it cannot see its
harddrive. We also need a program that will allow us to see the 8" floppy
drive, in order to see programs and data stored under CP/M in mid 1980-s.

Is the setup for this machine done from the software?
Does anyone have a setup disk for it?

2) READCPM was a standard program with ZDOS. It is a standard SSSD floppy?
If not, the formats were all different from computer to computer. There were
programs sold to read the various versions. The ZDOS one only read the Zenith
versions, I believe.
If you are still in need Saturday, I'll try logging in from home, where all
the documentation is.

The Z-100 series were non-PC compatible systems introduced in 1982.
The Z-100 PC series was a PC compatible clone line introduced in 1983 and
later.
This naming caused a bunch of confusion, but, bottom line, the two systems use
completely incompatible operating systems & diagnostic software. Nikolay has
the original Z-100, so your Z-100 PC software won't help him at all.
All of this confusion results from the fact that Zenith had an unlimited
license, with ZERO per-copy fees, for certain software, including CP/M, MS-DOS
and the major Microsoft languages, but it was limited to "Z-100's". This
naming was an attempt to be able to use that license, originally obtained for
the Z-100 series, for the subsequent IBM-PC compatible line, without having to
pay royalties or buy a subsequent license. Whether it held up or not, I'm not
sure, because I left Zenith (where I was the product line director and systems
architect for the original Z-100 line) in 1983.
