Anybody know anything?

Not off hand, but if it's not too many messages (like a few
comp.os.cpm and a few others), I operate a BBS that has Internet Mail
and News feed, and the process of converting the newsgroups to the BBS
allows the software to handle mailing list, etc. I could easily setup
a e-mail<->newsgroup from my BBS if the original poster is interested
(don't have his name or e-mail from the above quote), but the only
catch is that he'd receive the mail 2-3 times a day when I process
mail for the BBS... If that's acceptable, I wouldn't mind relaying
some of the not so busy newsgroups for him... The only thing is if a
group is moderated, you'll need to get the moderator's permission
first. Same holds true of Fidonet and other networks that I have
access to, if its o.k. with the moderator, its o.k. with me... I
could also check with the moderator of the Fidonet CPM echo if he's
interested, and forward that through a seperate mailing list if he
wants, since he's interested in CP/M...
Yes please. I get my email through a BBS which has some newsgroups
feeds, but I feel the sysop would be reluctant to add comp.os.cpm, even
though the throughput is low, as it's not very relevant to the other
systems on it. (Arcade BBS, +44(0)208-654-2212, Probably the best
Acorn BBS in the world 8) [God, these new phone numbers look strange!])
The only full internet access I have is at work, and most of what I
read is not really work-related.

Odd, it appeared here...

Yes, that'd be ok. Would I also be able to email /to/ the newsgroup?
My email address is j...@arcade.demon.co.uk, real name J.G.Harston.
(Should be in the sig at the bottom...)
> group is moderated, you'll need to get the moderator's permission
I don't think comp.os.cpm is moderated. If the moderator's out there,
please correct me 8).
As a solution to a single problem, this is ok, but as a generalised
question, and with my 'work' hat on, I've been trying to track down
reliable email-to-resource conversion/connection systems. Part of my
IT remit for the council is trying to ensure that IT resources are
widely accessible and interconnectable, rather than going down a road
of forcing everybody to use one specific, brank-spanking-new pay-
through-the-nose-for system. It's a bit like trying to get away from
'you must be a white man to vote' type of attitude to IT.
('In order to interact with council facilties, thou shalt pay Bill
Gates lots of money and use a PIV/600MHz/64Mb x86 computer')
I've found an email-to-fax system, that's a bit rickety at the moment,
but shows promise.

O.k. I subscribed my BBS to the newsgroup, and added your e-mail
address to the mailing list. The site I get my newsgroup feed from
says they process newsgroups every 4 hours I believe, and I check for
mail 2-3 times a day on the average, but will try to process it a few
times extra today for you to start getting some messages (hopefully)
by around 8pm tonight (CST), which from the header it should be 2am
your time... If anyone else would like to join the list from e-mail,
e-mail list...@mainline.nu and in the body of the message type
subscribe co-cpm
If anyone wants to subscribe from a Fidonet BBS, the instructions are
the same, except netmail listserv and use the fidonet address of
1:3807/1.0 .
>Odd, it appeared here...
Perhaps, but I don't have the original message ;-)
>Yes, that'd be ok. Would I also be able to email /to/ the newsgroup?
Yup, I have the list setup to send a confirmation message every 30
days. If I'm not mistaken, it just sends a message asking you to
reply to that message, in order to determine that your e-mail account
is still valid. If you run into any problems, feel free to e-mail me
at sa...@mainlinebbs.com, or John.G...@mainline.nu either one...

As far as I know of, most of the moderated groups (but not all) have
.moderated on the end of it...

I've seen other systems running software to do File Request, and ftp
by e-mail, although I don't know off hand what software their using
for it, and if its compatible with my software.... I'd kinda like to
add File request via e-mail.... Receiving E-Mail attachments on the
BBS end can be a bit tricky. I know for my system, I have the option
of extracting all attachments to a directory, then giving the user
access to download it, or not extract them and let the user find a
UUDECODE program to do it manually on their end...
