I have a fully functional Kaypro 2, but ZERO software to go with it.
Searching google ha never turned up anything so if anyone has any disk
images they could send along it would be greatly appreciated, i hate
seeing it sit there collecting dust.
( i assume teledisk on an old PC with a 5.25 drive will be ok to
re-create disks )
For all the inquiries to comp.os.cpm on Kaypro, they all seem to say
"I can't find
any software". I'm curious why a system so popular at the time, and
still found and
sold today, doesn't appear to have supporting Web sites. I' myself
support S-100
systems and not Kaypro, but I got curious. So I Googled "kaypro
software":
link #1 www.yoy.org/kaypro/html/kayprohist.html date about 1998
has links from its home page to
http://www.seasip.demon.co.uk/Cpm/index.html "seaslip" CP/M site,
http://www.retroarchive.org/cpm/ CP/M Commercial Archive site
link #2 www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=148
General computer history and collectors site
link #3 www.retroarchive.org/cpm/os/os.htm
has ZIPped sets of distribution disks for Kaypro 2X, Kaypro II. They
have lots of
manuals and software online for many CP/M systems as well.
link #6 http://www.mrynet.com/kaypro/software.html
A 2003 Kaypro site. has roms and software as follows:
TDO and ZIPped sets of software distributions for Kaypro. TWENTY sets
for Kaypro Z80 systems, more for the Kaypro 16/2 (MSDOS)
link #8 http://ripsaw.cac.psu.edu/~mloewen/Oldtech/Kaypro/Software.html
photos of Kaypro disk lables. no software. Huh...
link #10 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaypro Wikipedia article,
several links
including to "bitsavers" which has three Kaypro manuals in PDF form
link #13 http://www.retrotechnology.com/herbs_stuff/s_point.html
My Web site's list of S-100 Web pointers, which happens to have a dead
link on Kaypro.
There is useful discussion (IMHO) about CP/M and how to get "boot
disks". I moved some
of that discussion to other pages on my site, links are given.
link #14 - a link to a site which archives newsgroups. It's a link
back to the
post I'm responding to! ;)
---I stopped looking after about link #18. Noodle around on the above
sites to get Kaypro or CP/M
stuff. That's how it's done. Kaypro's ran CP/M, so you can run CP/M
once you get some Kaypro
CP/M boot disks. Read this newsgroup's prior posts in the last year or
two about Kaypros
to see what has already been said about 1) How to make or get bootable
disks so you can
run Kaypro's CP/M, and 2) how to get more CP/M software. Notible
links:
Gaby Chaudry CP/M unofficial archive Web site, http://www.cpm.z80.de/
Dave Dunfield's site for system boot disks, disk images, including
for Kaypro
http://www.classiccmp.org/dunfield/img/index.htm
Also, when you read about other people's comp.os.cpm posts about
Kaypro, you'll find some other
folks offered to write a Kaypro boot disks from their Kaypros, once a
model is identified. There's
other discussion on repair or upgrades of Kaypro systems, in case your
"fully functional" Kaypro
dies or has some fault. Good luck!

It must be the way im searching, i often tend to get garbage when others
have success from google.
Thank you very much for helping out, looks like there will be plenty
from those links.
When you go to create a diskette, you may find my posting to this
group from Aug. 4, 2005 helpful. You can find it in Google groups.
