I've got a Kaypro 2X and I want to add a harddisk. I also have a
Kaypro 10
harddisk controller with the small interface card. The Kaypro 2x has
the
Advent turbo ROM installed. The problem I have is the Kaypro 2x
motherboard
doesn't have the 50 pin header that attaches the ribbon cable to the
interface card.
The 2X motherboard is drilled and wave soldered for a 50 pin header. If
I add a
50 pin header to the 2X motherboard is the pinout the same as the 50 pin
header
on the Kaypro 10? Is there a better/easier way to add a harddisk to a
Kaypro 2?

Thanks,

Dave...

Yes, the pinout is the same. You will need to mount the interface card
and the harddisk controller and make up ribbon cables to connect
them. You should be aware that the hard disk data cable (20 leads)
should be connected to J2 on the controller and set as the second DS
selection on the drive. You will also need the TurboROM disks, unless
you already have them.

Thanks, Don. That's the information I needed before ordering the
Advent Disk formatter software.

Well, that is fine if you like your drive oriented vertically. But,
if you prefer them horizontal...
