Looking for C code (Unix Programming)

Hi:

I am looking for a program, which dials out (i.e. sends a text on a
beeper) using "cu". This is one of the example on unix programming
books. I do not recollect the title/author. I would appreciate if
someone refreshes my memory about it or if you have the code please
e-mail.
