in any program i have used with the athena menu widget(3d, or 2d),
i can not select any menu items. when i drag the cursor across the
menu, nothing even highlights. :(
in xterms, i am unable to bring up any of the menus. the modifiers
and everything are mapped correctly though.
in netrek, many of the windows will not accept any keystrokes. for
example, at the motd window, you are supposed to be able to hit b or
f to scroll, but it does not work. i am going to try to duplicate
this behavior by writing a very minimal X program sometime to see if
i can find out anything.. :(
i have experienced these problems under the Mach 64 server(p0,2) at 8,16,32bpp,
and on the 3.1 svga server. a couple of other the wierd things though.. if
i query my display from elsewhere, everything works perfectly. (from 2 linux
boxes running 3.1) also, if i run things under linux compat mode from those
to linux boxes i just mentioned, the programs exhibit the same evil behavior
on my machine. one last thing. if i run xev on the troubled windows, the
events seem to be getting generated.
btw, this is all happening on a NetBSD-current(as of Jan 29 i think) box.
same behavior on 1.0 though. :( if anyone needs more info, let me know..
i would really appreciate any help anyone can give me.

I had the same problem, sometime ago.
It turned out to be a hanging num-lock key (or the like) on the keyboard.
There is a switch in XF86Config concerning that.
$ grep -i numlock /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config
ServerNumLock
Experiment with this one.

cool.. all i had to do was add ServerNumLock to the KBD flags, and everything
now works. i sounded way to good to be true, but it works, :) i can't
thank you enough. if there is ever anything i can do for you, just let me
know. :)
btw, this might be a good thing to mention in the man page or some faq or
something. this has been driving me crazy for months.
