Hi,

I'm trying to install the VisiBroker for Java 3.0 evaluation copy on a
Solaris
system and I'm having trouble getting the examples to compile. The
environment
variables set are:

CLASSPATH apps/www/visibroker/lib/vbjcosev.jar: \
/apps/www/visibroker/lib/vbjcosnm.jar: \
/apps/www/visibroker/lib/vbj30.jar: \
/apps/www/jdk1.1.4/jdk1.1.4/lib/classes.zip

VBROKER_ADM /apps/www/visibroker/adm

PATH /apps/www/visibroker/bin: \
/apps/www/jdk1.1.4/jdk1.1.4/bin: \
bunch of other stuff ...

When I run make all from the ./java_examples directory, I'm getting the
following
fault:

javac Client.java
Client.java:9: Class Bank.AccountManager not found in type declaration.
Bank.AccountManager manager =
^
Client.java:10: Undefined variable, class, or package name: Bank
Bank.AccountManagerHelper.bind(orb, "BankManager");
^
Client.java:14: Class Bank.Account not found in type declaration.
Bank.Account account = manager.open(name);
^
3 errors
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `Client.class'
Current working directory /apps/www/visibroker/java_examples/bank
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all'

Should Client.java have some kind of import statement?
I know very little about this distributed object stuff (except I won't
have any bandwidth
left once it's working) so can someone tell me in plain old-fashion
unix-english how to
fix this?

Please answer soon, the evaluation period will end before I have this
thing working!

Thank You,
Bob Weiner

You need to add a "." to your CLASSPATH. I would also recommend
removing
the JDK classes.zip file from your CLASSPATH since it is not needed and
can
potentially cause problems with Java-enabled web browsers.
