Thinking of upgrading with a new computer coming with WiFi 6 compliance
(as well as the iPhone 11 and 1 iPad).

Recommendations?

at this point, asus.

synology is much better, however, they don't currently have wifi 6,
which makes it not a contender at this time.

Known issues that others and I ran into Orbi (mine is RBK753S-100NAS (WiFi 6; AX4200)):
1. Autoupgrade in background whenever it wants. Annoying when using the network and Internet! No way to disable it.
2. Guest wifi loves to disconnect.

Has not been a problem, updates are fast, and it is a feature to have
up-to-date firmware that is patched against the latest crap.

Um.. no. Not at all.

If this could be set to go at, eg: 4 in the morning, it would be better
than it going off at random, say while on a zoom call with a client...

No such issue here with my CBR750 & RBS750. Updates don't get installed
unless I log into the router admin interface and install them. It lets
me know when they are available when I log into the admin interface.

Don't use it on mine, so I can't comment.

I would have to check when updates have happened. I can say I have not
noticed the process, and we have a lot of things that complain when the
Internet is down, not least my wife and 19yo.

series.

The last upgrade happened right after midnight PDT when I was online! I
was wondering why I lost LAN and Internet connections, and saw my Orbi's
lights on.

Others and I have had our Orbi autoupgrade when using it without the
admin checks. :(

Ah. Try it. Wait, do you let guests roam on your LAN?

Guests can have web access, period.

As far as I know. Generally people only use it for a short time. (a
couple of hours)
