Music Notation Programs-any having separate playback of inputted midi file, and notation generated by the program, for comparison?

Besides Sibelius--which I'm told has the capability with Live Playback,
to separately play back an inputted Midi file, and also play back the
notation it generates, for comparison--
are there any other notation programs--epsecially for the Mac-that will
do this?

Does Finale have this same sort of capability?

I've heard also of Musicator having this capability to hear separate
playback of both the inputted midi file, and the notation it generates,
for comparison. but It is only available for the PC-I have a Mac- and
seems to no longer be in development-

So any one know of any music/notation programs for the Mac, preferably
-that offer this dual ability to hear the notation the program itself
generates, separate from the inputted midi file?

Sibelius 2 is definitely the way to go. Midi it with a great tone
generator like a Roland synthesizer, and the computer will play the
keyboard for you, based upon your input on the music writing screen.
I'm writing my Third Symphony doing this. pricey set up, but so
absolutely worth it. Finale is for professorial types who like to hole
up in their offices half the day when not grading papers.

Finale is just as good as Sibelius. I'm using it all the time, at the
moment I'm arranging the complete musical Les Miserables for a mainly wind
orchestra. It works like a breeze, once you've understood the internal
logic of the program.
Finale lets you easily toggle between playback of the MIDI data and
playback of the notes in the score.

So unfortunately neither Finale nor Sibelius supports Linux. My view is
that's really short-sighted of the software vendors. Not all of us
musicians want to use our scarce equipment and software dollars to line
Bill Gates's pockets.

G7 is sibelus light version for guitar. Do not know if they have a mac
version out yet.
It also works good for small scores,, piano music etc.
