Granny, an old Windows program for realtime granular sampling, has
seen a fairly nice update.

If you tried it sometime, or haven't yet, do check it out at
http://hem.passagen.se/rasmuse/Granny.htm

News:
* Good interpolation of sounds (6-point spline).
Timestretch 2-10-100 times, or downpitch 1-2-10 octaves, almost
completely alias-free.
* Faster engine.
The new interpolation is as fast as the old code. The old (linear)
interpol. is 50-80% faster.
* GranuLab 1.1 uses the Granny 8 (payware) engine/UI.
This means
many useful interface tweaks,
better MIDI support,
more complete realtime support.

It's freeware (as in gratis, no ads or spyware, just the ignorable
junk they paste above my homepage)
Download size: 337 kb.

Thank you VERY MUCH, Mr. Ekmun.

For those of you who've never used GranuLab, it is an absolutely
wonderful
granular synthesis program.

It's not like any other granular proggie I've used. I use it to
generate
unusual texures, uber-crunchy material for percussion and other
BADWEIRDNESS.

It allows you to control the parameters of the grains with more depth
than
programs like Crusher-X or the native granulators in AudioMulch (BTW,
those
are both fine programs, no slight intended).

But it is not for pink boys. Do not expect Moog basses or pretty pads
or
"soaring leads".

Expect full-tilt, bull goose loony OTHERNESS.

I recommend it most highly.
