I connected my Yamaha PSR E313 to my PC through M-Audio MIDI to USB
cable. I am able to play music and record MIDI through Ableton Live.
But the velocity of each note recorded in Ableton is very low, i.e.,
80 . I tried disabling touch response, harmony, reverb etc. in my
keyboard, but the velocity is recorded as 80. I tried the same thing
in FL Studio 6. Here too, I got low velocity recording for each key
pressed in my keyboard.
Is there a setting in Yamaha PSR E313 to increase the MIDI velocity
for each note (say 120) ? Or, is this something to do with the MIDI
cable? Any advice?
Thanks,
Sharf
It has nothing to do with midi cable, the velocity values are generated
by your keyboard.
If you search for an online pdf manual about your keyboard then you can
find anything written about "touch" in it.

Is it fixed at exactly 80? If so, somehow you have touch response off.
Be sure you're using a voice that *has* touch response -- it's possible
that this will affect keyboard touch as well (though it should only be
in the sound engine, not the key output).
If you're sure that touch is nominally 'ON', and you're still not
getting any variation, I'd suspect your unit is faulty. [But also
read your manual again... (:-/)]
In any case, the velocity you're seeing in software is a result only
of the keyboard itself. Nothing later in the chain will change that
(unless you have an app that specifically does!).
