I recently bought a "Piano discovery system" from a garage sale.
Unfortunately it doesn't have software CD and since makers of this
system is out of business I can not get it from them.

If someone has this system I would like to get a copy of the software
for this system.
contact me kqed01...@yahoo.com

Regards
RNP

I just pulled the system out of my basement. I am trying to see if it worth anything. I bought it from a high end childrens catologue about 22 years ago. My son was too young and I put it back in the box and forgot all about it. I am wondering if it works on today's computers?

After a lot of trials I have it working perfectly on a modern 64 bit pc. It took some effort to get it set up but it's worth it. The "XP fix" could no longer be found or purchased but using my method you don't need it.

Here's a summary of what I did.

Install Dosbox (a special build that has midi input)

Install windows 3.11 in dosbox

Install piano discovery system and get everything up and running (the sounds were poor quality and laggy)

Install virtualmidisynth with your choice of soundfont.

Voila. Runs perfectly with a USB maudio axiom 61. No lag. Great sound. I'd be glad to help anyone who needs it.

In article <9002d6c0-cbc0-44b4...@googlegroups.com>,
Congratulations on your perseverance...! (:-))

I gather that you have the original lessons and games driving virtualmidisynth?
Quite neat if you can do that. What's your opinion of those lessons?
From roaming the Web, it seems that a lot of thought was put into them.
Seems a shame that they've been lost to history. I wonder how tightly
the materials are tied into the code, and whether they could be separated
out and made OS agnostic.

Not clear if you have the original K/B, as you say you're using a nice
Axiom. [I love mine!]

I too have Piano Discovery bought from Timberdoodle years ago. My older children loved it, but after Xp came along it didn't work with that system so it got shelved. A few months ago I bought our youngest daughter My Piano system thinking it would be similar. However, she is dyslexic and found My Piano very frustrating because they won't advance her due to the fact that she can't seem to get the rhythm. I liked Piano Discovery better because they worked on the notes more than on the timing at first. I think our girl would do great with PD but I need help getting it set up on our computer. I have an older XP desktop that I'd like to dedicated just for this purpose and did buy the XP fix years ago. I'm wondering if anyone could help me. thanks, Kim

Did you find the XP fix? I just got a copy from the original coder in exchange for some iso files of the PDS Program
