I am currently using Win2000 most of the time. Sometimes I want to override
the driver that Win2000 is using and replace it with the driver that came
with the piece of hardware.

I notice that my Config.sys file is EMPTY. Is it safe to put
DEVICE=driver.sys or something in there ....and will that safely override
the driver that Win2000 uses. Or, will it at least allow me to use that
driver rather than the Win2000 generic driver for that piece of hardware?

I am a newbie....any help would be appreciated.

Post to the NT or a Win2000 group only. None of the others crossposted are
related to your problem.

Windows does not require config.sys, and anything you put there is likely to
be ignored.

If you want to change the driver being used, make the change in Windows,
using the device properties.
