hi,

Has anyone tried debugging software on a PC based on the NEC PC-98
architecture ? Would appreciate it if you can recommend some useful
(executeable level) debugger. My machine runs on MS-DOS 5.0a and currently
all I have is DEBUG.

Thanks,
S.H. Tan

That's a NEC PC-98 and not a NEC PC98-NX, isn't it?
I guess you already understand Japanese, otherwise you would not be able to
understand the computer?
Let's see.
There's lasm <http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/lasm/>, which is an assembler with
linker, debugger and editor. It has a trial version, but the full version
costs 16,800 Yen (about US$160). As far as I can understand (from
worldlingo's translation), it can run on a NEC PC-98 computer. (Says the
assembler, linker and debugger need DOS 2.11 or better (for the
multi-language support), and the editor needs DOS/V, PC-9800 "chiri-su" or
compatible.)
I can't seem to find anything else under NEC PC-98 debugger (other than
In-Circuit Debuggers and MS PC 98 stuff).
