I have setup MS SBS 4.5 for a customer of mine using Outlook 2000 as the
mail client. For some reason, the user can send email out to Internet users
OK-- but when the Internet user does a "reply", it bounces back
undeliverable.
I noticed when sending email, the address it's coming from isn't the proper
address with the correct domain info I configured in the Outlook client. It
seems to be taking the user/login name and adding the server's computername
as the domain to the end instead-- so when people reply it doesn't work.
The customer actually found if they used Outlook Express, this problem
doesn't seem to happen... but I can't see anywhere in Outlook 2000 that
anything is misconfigured!
I am not bringing the net mail to the server first. When I configured SBS I
just said NO to that question and handle all Internet email at the client
side by setting up the inbound/outbound mail server, Internet login/pass
info, etc. I've done this many times with no problem... but this time I'm
hitting a brick wall.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Can we see bounce?

Here it is:
This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason:
Your message was not delivered because the destination computer was
not found. Carefully check that it was spelled correctly and try
sending it again if there were any mistakes.
It is also possible that a network problem caused this situation,
so if you are sure the address is correct you might want to try to
send it again. If the problem continues, contact your friendly
system administrator.

Please reply to Postm...@home.com
if you feel this message to be in error.
Her email account is actually bso...@quaker-steak.com, and if I recall
correctly the SBS computername was JOLLDEVELOPME01 which it seems to be
using as the mail domain instead of the quaker-steak one defined in her
Outlook client.

Yes, but not for Internet mail. Internet email is being handled via Outlook
on the client side (just using the SBS server to access the POP mail
server... nothing configured with the Exchange server for internet email)

Thanks for your response... I look forward to anyone's assistance... please
cc: all replies to le...@yahoo.com to assure I get them.
Also, under the Domain/configuration/connections/routing, make sure routing
goes from the domain "quaker-steak.com" to "inbound".
Hope this helps. I'm still an intermediate with Exchange Server.
