I found a monitor capable of displaying at the settings I inadvertently
arrived at.
Asked the colleague if I can swap CPUs for a few minutes.
In less than five minutes I got the settings back to values that my
monitor can tolerate!
Upto that point I I had spent three hours installing and uninstalling
the drivers, looking at Microsoft site for suggestions, and trying to
edit the registry...
I should have gone to that colleague right away.
Hope this helps others who may search for a solution within the archives
of these newsgroups.
