Hi,

I've got a 25 client NT4 lan. 1 PDC, 1 BDC. We use a very basic logon
script.

I want to install a small program (from it's CD) onto all the clients
without doing it one by one.

What's the best way to approach this? Maybe some online resources someone
could point me to?

TIA,
Steve

Check out www.hiddensoft.com for AutoIt, a totally free scriptingprogram,
which I use to install all kind of programs.

Steve,

Here are a couple of approaches:

1. If your program just copies various files to the hard disk (including
some icons) but does not modify the registry: Duplicate the installation
in a batch file with a number of appropriate xcopy commands. You
can then invoke that batch file as part of the logon script. You'll need
to include code to avoid a duplicate installation.

2. If your program modifies the registry: Use SysDiff (from the NT
Resource Kit) to capture the changes made by your installation, then
apply these changes during the logon process. There is a bit of a
learning curve you'll have to climb with sysdiff. You are unlikely to save
any time the first time round, with just 25 target PCs, but you will win
in the long run.
