Thought this might help a few struggling souls out there:

I am running W2K through a Speedtouch 570 wireless ADSL modem and just got
it working with Contivity VPN client.
When first set up on ADSL with Bigpond support you cannot get a VPN
connection, and the support "tech's" will not give any info on VPN.

Firstly get your dos command prompt ("Start" => "Programs" => "Accessories"
=> "Command Prompt")

1. Type "telnet 10.0.0.138" <enter> (general IP address of the modem)
2. You will be prompted for your username, type it then <enter>.
3. You will be prompted for your password if it has been set up, type it
then <enter>
4. Type "nat unbind application=ESP port=1" <enter>
5. Type "nat unbind application=IKE port=500" <enter>
6. Type "saveall" <enter>

These commands are all described in the CLI Reference Guide (Command Line
Instruction) available from the manufacturers website.
For what it's worth, I gaurantee this will work on the 570 and probably
every other Speedtouch modem.
No other changes whatsoever should be needed on your computer or VPN client.
