FYI:

Mr. Brazee,

Thanks for your response. We can add the electronic replica to your
account at no extra charge and I will get it set up for you. But,
unfortunately, you may not be able to read it on your i-Pad. The
online replica requires Adobe Flash, which the i-Pad does not support.
While the ‘Olive iReader app’ is now available, we are in negotiations
with the vendor to try to make it available to our iPad users.
Unfortunately, at this time the cost would force us to raise our rates
substantially. We want the subscription rate for our eEdition to
continue to be reasonable and we wish to avoid a rate increase at this
time to include this application. Therefore, unfortunately we can not
promise a date or even if this application will be available. We
encourage you to enjoy your Denver Post eEdition on the host of
hardware that is currently compatible with our product. We apologize
for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

L. Faliano

What was this in response to? The Denver Post already has an iPhone app.

I downloaded its app to my iPad, and it doesn't show the whole
subscribed paper.

So I checked about the paid e-mail version, and they added it to my
dead tree version It uses something new to me (active paper???), but
it looks like the real paper. I can't cut and paste it, but I move
around in it.

In my experience, any e-paper which requires Flash is too
unpleasant to want to read, anyway. At couple of magazines
I read offer Flash versions. Yech.

I don't think this is much of a loss. Get a better paper.

Plain Bread alone for e-mail, thanks. The rest gets trashed.

I shared this information because I thought it was interesting to iPad
users. The paper looks good on my computer, but I didn't get it for
its quality of e-output, I got it because it's my local paper.

I know. I'm just giving you a hard time. Really, though, the
paper is limiting themselves severely if they want to require
Flash to read the electronic version.

They can whine all they like about the expense of coming up with
an alternative, but it's likely that whatever third-party provider
they are using is actively exploring alternatives right now. There
is no decent Flash on mobile devices, even the latest and greatest
versions of Android which are going to be coming on the (yet to
be released) tablet devices which will compete with the iPad.

If those guys want a tablet device audience - and they do - they
won't be Flash-only for long. Be patient.
