As I recall there was some way to disable split screen permanently on my
ipad but I can't find it now.

The split screen keeps coming up when I don't want it due to something I'm
doing but how can I just permanently disable split screen in iPadOS 15.6.1?

It seems the apple dictatorship has decided all users must accept spitscreen,
since apple knows what's best for users and users are not supposed to
have their own preferences.

i agree with you 100%. I went into this before, and there is no way of
dsabling it.

I dont need it, I don't want it and I certainly don't use it.

I agree with sobriquet. I've added a comment to the link he provides.

But how best to complain to Apple?

John.

This is the internet. Try a web search for "apple feedback" sometime.

It's easy enough to turn off ...

You can't complain. You can only report a bug, and Split Screen is not
a bug, despite how annoying and fairly pointless it is for most users.

The various Apple OSes have a ton of these annoying gimmicks that are
far too easy to invoke by accident and confuse people. Whenever I'm
setting up a new device for someone, I always turn off as much of this
crap as possibly - it saves them a lot of confusion and saves me a lot
of wasted time explaining how to get rid of it / visiting to "fix" it
when they later accidentally find it happening.

This doesn't work (as the comments below it also clearly reveal).

The link says:
If you want to disable a split-screen view on your iPad fully, you have to
follow these steps:
Go to the “Settings” app on your iPad.
After that, tap “Homescreen & Dock.“
Then, in the “Multitasking” section, switch off “Allow Multiple Apps.“

If it were that easy, I'd have doen it long ago.I have a 7th generation iPad
running iPadOS 16. Under Home Screen and Multitasking, I have sections for
Home Screen, Newly Downloaded Apps, Dock and Notification badges. There is no
Multitasking section.

Next suggestion, pease.

It's defnitely there on our iPad, but Apple stupidly removed the option
in iPadOS 15 and 16. There are a many people complaining about it in
various web-forums.

"Unlike iPadOS 14 and earlier versions, multi-tasking and
associated views cannot now be disabled from settings."

There isn't one. Idiotically it can no longer be disabled. :-(

One of the many reasons to not automatically jump on the OS upgrade
bandwagon until you fully know what the changes are (not that you have
a choice when buying a brand new device).

But isn't only the absolute latest iOS version the only want fully patched?

Maybe, but the first x.0 release of anything is usually buggy, so it's
always best to at least wait for the second release, or at the very
least waiting a few days to see what issues other guinea pigs report.

There has been the occasional update which is so problematic that Apple
has pulled it and later replaced with a properly working version.

Plus, is the chance of you getting malware on your Apple device
(basically 0%) worth the risk of losing features you want / gaining
gimmicks you don't want.
