I'm able to drag movies (.mov) to the iPad icon in iTunes (which
highlights all of the sections of the iPad), but when I drag the same
movies to the icon of my new iPod Touch nothing happens.

What is the problem and how do I solve it?

sounds like you may have manual sync enabled on the ipad. that's
generally more of a hassle than it's worth.

with either device connected, click on the device in the left column,
then click on the movies tab along the top. select which movies you
want synced. do the same for tv shows, books, apps, etc. disable manual
sync in the summary tab. now when you sync, the selected movies and
whatever else will be copied, automatically.

Thanks for the quick response. I had the manual sync turned off on my
iPod touch. I actually prefer to manually sync my music and videos.

When I tried your instructions all I see under Sync Movies is the option
to Automatically include: All, 1 most recent, 3 most recent, etc.

Where would the sync look for the movie files?

There are only two icons, neither of which I want to sync. I would like
to get rid of those two movie icons, how do I do that?

itunes syncs movies and other content from your itunes library.

to add content, drag movies, tv shows, music, books, etc. to the itunes
window.
