Picmatic used to be a really great slideshow app for the ipad.
But sadly it looks like it has been removed from the appstore, like
many other great apps (inkpad, mercury browser, photoshop touch, etc..).

Does anyone know a decent replacement for it on the ipad? Preferably
free. Or a free basic version with additional features that you pay for,
like picmatic used to have.

Photoshop Touch was killed off by Adobe 2 years ago and has been
replaced by the more capable and still free Photoshop Fix and Photoshop
Mix (with your composite stuff you should find PS Mix great) and PS
Express is still available, but its days might be numbered. Also
Lightroom mobile is still free.

*Photos* still has a slideshow feature as does LR mobile, called
"Presentation".

Otherwise it should be simple enough for you to search the AppStore
using "Slideshow", and you will find a whole bunch of slideshow and
presentation apps all free with in App purchase options.

I prefer medibang paint for photo composition. But photoshop touch had
some unique features and I don't think photoshop mix does a good job
of replacing that functionality (like being able to transform selections
with numeric inputs or the magic wand tool to select pixels with particular
color values).

The slideshow option in the standard Photo app isn't so bad, but
it has limited options compared to picmatic.

When I search for 'slideshow' in the appstore, I get lots of search
results, but they mostly seem to be apps to create presentations
as videos. I just want it as a kind of screensaver where it simply shuffles
certain photo albums randomly and continually, preferably displaying
multiple images simultaneously.

I was hoping someone familiar with picmatic would know of a particular
replacement with similar functionality.

I have the same question. The majority of "slideshow" apps on the store are spam and junk. The slideshow functionality built into the iPad is really lousy -- can't believe Apple didn't support random display.

Picmatic, please come back! Charge me more money!!
