I'm used to desktops where in a web page full of text
you just hit slash (/) in firefox or control f in any
other browser (command f on mac) to search for text
inside that web page (not on the URL bar).

How do you hit control f in safari when the only time
I can get the keyboard to show up is when a url is
selected but I need the keyboard in the middle of the
page of text.

How do I find text in a web using safari on ipad?

Open the webpage, touch the icon of the square that has an arrow on it
pointing up, and touch the Find on Page icon that pops up.

I prefer the other method: just type the text you want to search for
into the address bar. At the bottom of the suggestions list that appears
will be an "On this page" section that shows you how many matches there
are; tap that to cycle through them.

Yes, that is a way. That way is tap, type, tap, tap. Via my mentioned
way via the icon, it is tap tap type and tap. Plus, for complete and
humbling honesty, you sometimes have to scroll for the Find on Page
making your suggestion break the tape to win by a finger <g>

I just tried this but it fails because there is no "Find on Page" icon.
But the other method worked!

Are you sure? Did you scroll to the right (swipe a bit)?
