Hi all...

I've copied all (80) photos from my iPad 3 to my computer, using Dropbox.
I've cleared the Dropbox folder by moving the photos elsewhere.
I've even unchecked the folder in iTunes
I synched the iPad.....and the photos are still there.

Why?
i can only see how to delete one at a rime.
How do I delete multiple photos/albums/camera roll on the iPad?
(A five second task on a PC I might add!)

Open "Photos"

Tap "Albums"

Tap the "Edit" button.

Notice that every album except "Saved Photos" now has a circled X on it.
Don't do it yet, but tapping that will (probably) delete the whole album.

Now, tap "Done" to get back to the previous display. Tap an album to
open it.

See a box with an arrow popping out in the upper right? Means "send" or
"forward" right? Wrong. Some human factors genius at Apple decided
this was a good icon for "Edit OR share""

Tap it, and you get the "Select photos" screen.

Tap as many photos as you want to delete (or share or copy or ...)
Each one gets a check mark on it. When you have them all, tap a button
on the left to
Share - print or put in a message
Copy - prepare them to paste somewhere else
Delete - get rid of them
or on the right to
Add to … - put them in another album.
Cancel - put everything back the way it was

If you want to delete saved photos, I guess you have to use the second
method.

1. In the Photos application, tap the share button.
3. Tap to select each of the photos you want to delete.
4. Tap Delete.

TYVM Wes an JR...:-)

Sorted....in as much as I can <at last!> now get rid of some or all of the
individual pix by selecting the thumbnails to delete.

It does not appear possible to *Select all* or an *Album* in any way
however.

Thanks again...

I gave you two methods. Here's the first one again:

Open "Photos"

Tap "Albums"

Tap the "Edit" button.

Notice that every album except "Saved Photos" now has a circled X on it.
.... tapping that will (probably) delete the whole album.

I do not intend to test it, but I've never seen that X-in-a-black-circle
do anything other than delete the thing it is stuck to.

Edit is not available in Album view...

OK, thanks....

Here's how I finally got there....
(This is my saved instructions to me!)

----------------------------------
1. Dropbox all iPad photos to a folder on my PC (CYA).

2. Empty (or move contents of) the sync folder on the PC. (*iPad Photos*) in
*My Pictures*

3.. Have all thumbnails visible on the iPad, touch curved arrow at top
right, touch every thumbnail to put a tick on each and *Delete All*

4. Synch the iPad & eject it.
---------------------

One could also add:

5. Ponder a while on why Apple doesn't seem to understand the KISS
principle...:-)

I would certainly expect it to, but I don't have an album I'm willing to
delete just for an experiment.

If you put garbage in a computer nothing comes out but garbage.
But this garbage, having passed through a very expensive machine,
is somehow ennobled and none dare criticize it.

We apparently have a communication problem. Let me try being a little
more verbose.

>>> Open "Photos"

On the Home screen of IOS 5.1.1, tap the "Photos" icon.

>>> Tap "Albums"

On the screen that comes up, if the bar across the top does not have
"Albums" in the center and highlighted, then tap the "Albums" button.

>>> Tap the "Edit" button.

Over on the right-side end of the bar, tap the button labeled "Edit"
to cause a circled X control to appear on each album.

NOW, I do not know whether tapping that circled X will delete the album,
but I do know that in ALL OTHER PLACES where I have seen that symbol,
tapping it deleted the thing it was attached to.

So where do they go? Back into the camera roll? I'm tempted to agree
with the OP--Apple seems to be forgetting sensible user interface
guidelines.

Sure...
Preselecting and deleting all the photos in an Album appears to subsequently
remove the containing Album.
There seems to be no way to get the option to simply *Delete Album* or
*Delete all Albums* or *Delete all Photos*

I could be wrong, but I think that when I _moved_ photos into an album,
I _moved_ them _from_ Camera Roll.

We _still_ have a communication problem. The procedure I described WILL
delete the ALBUM with one tap.

But (what I didn't know before) we've since been told that it does not
delete the photos contained in the album. Kind of stupid, I think.
