Now that we're all home a lot more, cellular signal strength at home
is perhaps even more important than it ever has been before.
I just tested mine using this sequence:
o *How to Test Cell Phone Signal Strength on Your Phone*
<
https://www.weboost.com/blog/how-to-test-signal-strength-on-your-phone>
It would be interesting to see what others obtain around the world at home.
*Android* (according to the article cited below, tested by me):
o Settings > About Phone > Status (or Network)
o On this screen view Signal Strength (or Network Type and Strength)
Or, on some Android phones (according to the article cited below):
o Settings > More Options (or More Settings) > About Phone > Mobile Networks
o On this screen, view Signal Strength.
*iOS* (according to the article cited below):
o Dial & call "*3001#12345#*" to enter iOS Field Test mode.
o The number on the upper left represents the signal strength indicator
o Long press the Power button to view the power off interface
o Then release but do not power off
o Long press the Home button until your phone returns to the home screen
o The signal indicator will turn into a number
Note, confusingly, the cite above says to "add +20dBm" to the resulting iOS
value for some reason completely unknown to me, while the article below
does not say to add +20dBm to obtain an accurate reading on iOS phones.
[If anyone on iOS phones can clarify which is correct, please let us know.]
This article provides a qualitative interpretation of your signal strength:
o *How to check the actual signal strength on your phone*
<

"The following is a rough guide to signal strength (dBm):
o -50dBm to -40dBm means an excellent signal
o -60dBm to -50dBm indicates very good signal
o -70dBm to -60dBm shows good signal
o -80dBm to -70dBm means less weak signal
o -90dBm to -80dBm shows weak signal
Where they assess the values as:
o Above -90 indicates basic communication is possible.
o Under -90 means your phone talking may be intermittent.
