that doesn't run windows apps (or mac apps for that matter), making it
a very limited replacement for a laptop.

very few.
it's two different user interface paradigms. there is no need for a
mouse in a touch-based interface, except for those with motor
impairments and have difficulties in touching.

you got that wrong too. ios devices have supported numerous usb devices
since the beginning, including keyboards, audio devices, card readers
and many other devices.

nope. the surface pro doesn't sell well and has very little to do with
the direction of ios.
