I know how to forward a single text (either received or sent) on the
Galaxy J7, but how do you forward the entire thread of the
conversation consisting of several received and sent texts?

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: I found a solution and tested it for the OP.
(See the bottom of this message for the details.)

I never had the need, but I always assume there is a clever free way to do
whatever you want to do, where the solution approach is always the same.

I "suspect" there is a free SMS app that _will_ forward the entire
convesation, but the question is "which app does that"?

I switch SMS apps from time to time where I notice I'm currently using
Pulse, which didn't have an easy way that I could see (I didn't check the
Internet though).

Switching to QK SMS as the text app, again, I didn't see any easy way to
select the entire set of conversations to "share" or "forward".

It was even worse when I went back to the original default SMS app, which
had so few options that it was ridiculously inept (which is kind of why I
would never wish the default SMS app on anyone).

While I tested, oh, I don't know, maybe more than a dozen SMS apps, the
only two I have left are Pulse and QK SMS (all others failing for some
reason or another), so we can resort to google...

The question appears to be common... where the most common answers seem to
be a bit off from what you want in that they suggest
o Email My Texts, or,
o Backup to GMail
Both of which are, IMHO, kludges.

For example, one suggestion was "SMS Backup & Restore", which will email
back to you the conversation in XML format, which you can forward via
email.

That same thread recommended "Textra" where you can "tick" each text in the
long conversation to then forward all the "ticked" messages at once.
<https://forums.androidcentral.com/droid-razr-maxx-hd/276917-forward-email-entire-text-conversation.html>

In that thread, the OP said "Textra solved the problem" so I downloaded
Textra and it seems to work fine.

Here is a screenshot of a Textra conversation that I checked all the
messages of to forward (but I didn't forward it as it seems to work and
it's best if the OP checks it out to see if it works for him).

https://www.google.com/search?q=sms%20forward%20thread

found:

https://www.technipages.com/android-forward-text-message
(see step 3 - looks like the trick is to tap and hold on a text)

The SMS app you are using might not support forwarding or
multiple-message forwarding. Several articles recommend using a
different SMS app for that, like Handcent (I've never used it) or Textra
(select one or multiple texts or a thread) both of which are freemium
apps. Some users have noted that some SMS apps have a "send thread as
e-mail" function.

Ah, That's why _both_ Handcent & Textra must have been _deleted_ by me when
I tested as many of the SMS/MMS apps as I could when I first tested them a
few months ago!

I ended up with only Pulse SMS & QK SMS after those extensive tests, but I
didn't write down my findings. I just deleted an app on first notice of
obnoxiousness.

At the moment, I've re-installed both Handcent NextSMS & Textra, where I'll
be on the lookout for the obnoxities you speak of to show up in due time.
