Download .apk without installing?

How can I download an .apk install file to a PC so that I can move it over
to a phone or tablet.
This:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovelin.guitartuna&hl=en_GB
is one I want but there are others.
Went through the download and install procedure with phone connected to PC,
tells me it will be installed on phone later but since then nothing. The
.apk file isn't on either PC or phone.
NB: This phone won't connect to internet to download directly.

Looks like you can get APKs for numerous programs there.

phone is offline. But certainly you can use an APK downloader site
like apk4fun, which solves the first half of your problem. To install
the package, you would generally first install the Android SDK on your
PC, and then use the "adb" tool to install packages to your phone.
E.g.
(on your pc, as root)
$ adb start-server
(on your pc, as a user, with phone connected)
$ adb install -s GuitarTuna_3.4.3.apk

File Explorer to find the file on the computer and tap it. It asks if I
want to install it, and I say Yes.

Thanks for the replies, that http://www.apk4fun.com is just what I was
looking for. Re; phone not connecting to internet it seems it's only when
using Chrome, I have a Google icon which I've discovered works OK.
