What is good Android usenet reader ?
As it is very subjective.

I can recommend these 2 I was using in given time order,
when I was used to Usenet on Android.

But I do not say they are good for you,
so do not complain.. :-)

Working with long posts was a pain as I remember.

As some posters summarize "near all the history of internet"
in their replies. I remember swiping the screen like crazy .

I just spent a few days looking for one so I'll be interested to see
what turns up.

The "groundhog" reader seemed like the best of the lot but not near good
enough. Couldn't find any way to get it to post, and it reads
full-message-text for all new messages instead of just headers at first.

There was another one by Christian somethingorother, but it wanted
privileges that it did not need.

I'm Very Picky about what privileges I'll allow new installs to have.

On Windows I have always used the Usenet reader that is part of the Windows
Email prog's
Perhaps we might find one there in say Opera for Android

Not tried Groundhog, but I found Newsgroup and use it regularly. A
little quirky, but works well.

As I remember, I found the ads fairly obnoxious. Mileage etc.

Opera Mini doesn't contain that functionality as far as I can tell.

Yeah, there is that. You can pay to have them removed. My phone's screen
is big enough that they're not too problematic.

When I'm trying to read something, any changing flashing crap in view is
distracting to the point of "force-stop,clear-data,uninstall". The UI
is pretty strange too. And of course it shares the apparent Android
standard of not providing top/bottom buttons of any kind so you have to
scroll to the bottom. I'm not sure what the guy wants for it, but I'm
damned sure not going to reward his blatant commercialism and lame UI
design with a purchase.

I'm still pretty new to the whole touchscreen/Android scene. I'm still
amazed that touchscreen has such amazing potential and is still so
poorly used. There's probably no food critic as harsh as a retired chef.

Hello, Martin ©¿©¬ @myglasses.com.invalid>.

This one seems to work quite well: "HotdogEd NNTP Provider" by "Sergey
Pushkin". It's a little unusual in that you have to install " HotdodEd
Editor" (which isn't a standalone editor) first.

You are referring to Outlook Express, which no longer exists in Windows.

OE was an email and newsreader client. If you had full Outlook
installed, it got used for email, but OE was called for newsgroups.

It provoked a lot of "get a real newsreader" comments to those using it.

Newsreader support has been deprecated in MS products for a while. They
took their own newsgroups offline a while back and pointed people at web
forums instead.

Fortunately, for most of MS web forums there exist
local NNTP-web forum bridge but for the Answers forum.

http://communitybridge.codeplex.com/
https://communitybridge3.codeplex.com/

It exists for the Answers as well,
but for reasons I do not understand,
It is limited on MS side to MVP and selected users.

Yes it went with XP . Then Windows Mail - Windows Live Mail 2011 - Windows
Live Mail 2012
which I use now.
Which is part of 'Windows Live Essentials' package containing other such
things as Blog Writer.
I think we have to download it from MS.

The Live Essentials Usenet Reader is actually not terrible. It's not quite
Agent or Pan, but I've defintely used worse.

A play-store search for "Live Essentials Usenet Reader" turned up
nothing but Chrome, where is this thing?
