I don't see a way to set a continuous and loud notification sound when a
text arrives. It only gives a single notification sound so I'm missing
too many.

I had an iPhone that you could set to keep ringing- kinda like an
incoming phone call. Can I set my Tracfone Verizon LG Rebel running
Android 5.1.1 to do that?

Don't know about that one, but some have light that will blink when there's
an unread text or voicemail.

You will never manage to throw enough stones at dogs if all you care
about is rushing to your destination.

Take time to smell the roses and throw the stones.

Thanks- but I carry my phone in my pocket so I wouldn't see the light!

I don't know any way to make the tone cycle like a phone ringer. It may
vary depending on the messaging app. I choose a long notification sound
so I have time to hear it. A sound that gets more intense towards the
end helps too.

This is for a Samsung GT-S6810P running Android 4.1.2, but I would
expect similar options to be available for more recent Android versions
and hardware:

1) Open the messaging (SMS) app

2) Go to 'settings'

3) Scroll down to find 'Notifications' and make sure it is selected

4) Scroll down more to find 'Vibrate' and select that too if required

5) Scroll down even further to find 'Message alert repetition' and
change 'once' into 'Every 2 minutes' or 'Every 10 minutes' as preferred.

You'll probably notice other settings that might be useful.

I have my phone chime discreetly and vibrate once every 10 minutes until
I read the new message.

Hadn't considered a different app-- but I'll look into it!

Thanks, that did give me a repeat notification...headed in the right
direction but not there yet!

I use an app called SMS Popup. It works great. You set the sound and
how often you want it to repeat etc. I set mine for five minutes PLUS
you can pick the led light colr as well as how it flashes. I miss so
many, this has saved me many times.

I use an app called Prof Reminder.
