I was out of town and very impressed that the phone figured out where I
was (allthough I already knew.)

I stopped at the "travel plaza" on the Delaware Turnpike to eat and play
with the phone and the maps.me turned black and dark grey except for
some dim white place names that I couldn't read. I couldn't figure out
what part of the map I was looking at.

Right now I'm home and it looks normal, tan and a few other colors.

What do you think was going on in Delaware, and how would I get it back
to normal.

(I had other maps, had I needed one.)

Accidentally in Satellite View, or Terrain View, or both? Cheers, -- tlvp

Does it automatically enable a "night mode" based on the time?

Yes, it does!

I turned night mode on just now and it was almost impossible to read. I
don't see the point of night mode. When it's dark out, I need the
light of the screen to see what's on the screen just as much or more
than when it's light out. I could see the dim letters, but not the
roads or the other stuff that surrounded the words. I coudln't even
tell the Delaware River from the non-River.

And the other night, it may have been after dark out, but I was indoors,
and if I weren't indoors, I'd be in my car, which has a light.

Is it low-light so I won't be observed by the enemy?

Anyhow, I turned it to off. Thanks.

And thanks tl.

No, because the bright light would blind your night vision while driving.

True, but my experience with "night mode" in general is that
it's a disaster. I prefer to avoid impairing night vision by
dimming the screen.

Okay. I'll try it at night when I'm driving and the interior light is
off.

But I still think it's so the enemy won't see me coming up on them. I
also have a problem turning off my headlights when I'm driving, even in
the day time, so the enemy has more than one advantage over me.
