music player stops spontaneously

Hi.

On my Android phone (OnePlus 5T with Android 8.1.0) I like to listen
to music. Often it happens that for no apparent reason, the music
spontaneously stops playing and this is very annoying when I'm
on the bicycle and I have to pull out my phone and press the play button
to resume playback.
This happens about once every day. How can I figure out what causes
this unwanted behavior?

Try a different music player. There are plenty in the Play Store. Pick one
and see if it has the same problem.

Sometimes, OS terminates apps running on background, check if
developer is settings allow increase number of background
applications( A4.3 on my old phone had it, but I did not find it

Decide if you can kill some nonessential running applications,
especially those listed as background ones.

I've tried many and eventually found three that normally play
simultaneously without problems (except for the problem that they
sometimes spontaneously stop, but when they stop, all of them stop
at the same time):

I like to have multiple players because I like to mix various kinds
of music and also listen to audiobooks (the instrumental music plays
at a lower volume level in the background).

Thanks. I'll toggle off the battery optimization setting for
the music player apps to see if that solves the issue.

It seems it was indeed the battery optimization feature that
was stopping audio playback. Glad it's resolved now.
