Why do some file managers read the root partition - and yet - some file
managers do not?
Since I have a good heart and even better intent I would like to point out
that half my file managers can "read" my (unrooted) root partition and half
can not - but at this point in time, I do not know what the difference is.

Does anyone on this newsgroup know _why_ some file managers can read the
root partition and yet other file managers can not read that file system?
What's different?

Posted out of the goodness of my heart to disseminate useful information
which, in this case, is to find out why some file managers do what they do.
