Is UUHECNET active? I have been trying to find out what I need to do to
get connected to it for a while with no success. If it is possible I would
like to get involved. I used uucp a long time ago, I never admined the
system I just used it for mail so I would need help getting thing setup.
Please let if it or another hobbyist network is alive and what I can
do to get involved.

I tried to contact someone several months ago, as well, but never heard
anything back. I even have a very practical reason for wanting to get
back into doing UUCP again.

I poll with their hub regularly, beside that not much seems to be
happening. It sometimes rather hard to get in touch with somebody.

If you are looking to exchange news articles via uucp, ask me via mail please.

Cheers,
Martin

While I might one day run my own News Server for a handful of groups and
move them using UUCP my primary interest is in reviving UUCPMail. For
the moment, even if I eventually get hooked up, it will sit pretty much
idle most of the time. but then, I imagine that is what most of the
nodes do. :-)

What's so good about UUCP? I would like a news network that I can use with a
news reader without SPAM.

For some of us, UUCP is the ONLY way we can even GET newsgroups. That
and the fact that the BBS I am posting this from is DOS based (yet
accessible from the Internet), UUCP is the only way it can transport
newsgroups and email.
