Dear Claus, dear all,

I am using FEATURE greet_pause with 8 seconds.
It works perfect for IPv4.
In my access.db I have an entry for my local network like this:
GreetPause:192.168 25
If connect from this network it's only very short.

I tried the same with my IPv6 network range.
I tried for example:
GreetPause:IPv6:1:2:3 25
GreetPause:[IPv6:1:2:3] 25
GreetPause:[IPv6:1:2:3::] 25
GreetPause:[IPv6:1:2:3::4] 25
and maybe some other strange combinations.
But nothing worked. I always run into the 8 second timeout if I connect to the IP-v6 address of the e-mail gateway.

Is it possible there is a little bug with GreetPause in combination with IPv6 or did I just not find the right syntax ?

Generally I have to say, I am running IPv6 since more then a year on the external e-mail gateways. It's working fine. Around 10% of all e-mails are delivered over IPv6.

Kind regards
Hans

Why don't you check the logfile and take the IP value given for
relay=?

BTW: you didn't write which sendmail version you use.

Dear Claus,

many thanks for your reply.
It was a multiple issue. Beside the fact I was trying to find the correct value in access.db I also run into the problem that the ident timeout was active. After configuring the firewall correctly I could focus on the entry in the access file. For all others reading this thread, for example this is the correct syntax for a timeout of 25 msec for a v6 network 1:2:3::

GreetPause:[IPv6:1:2:3] 25

Your reply to take the value of "syslog" helped me a lot for the final solution. I am using sendmail Version 8.15.1 on Solaris 11.2

Another question Claus. Once I read a documentation about DSN. It's that
http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/dsn.html
The final paragraph speaks critical about security issues.
Is the recommendation to switch off DSN ?

Kind regards
Hans
