Is there any facility in sendmail for routing mail based on the from
address (envelope sender) instead of the destination? Mailertable
works great for routing by sender address. But I would like all mail
I send from my work address to be routed to one relay and all other
mail (personal) to be routed to another relay.

Currently I have the domain names of all the companies I comunicate
with in mailertable.

Thanks.

Abstract : The document describes how to make sendmail select smart host
[e-mail relay host] based on envelope sender address (full address or
domain part only).

The page is based on post to c.m.sendmail from February 1999.

Just what I need! Many thanks!

THis page has a link to Neil Ricket's sender_based_routing. Any
preferences between the two?

Thanks.

I declare *my* solution as better. Why do you need to ask? ;-)

Obviously. ;-) I was wondering what other folks though.

Your solution works quite well and does not require patching sendmail
like Neil's.

Has there been any effort to get this included with sendmail by
default? It's quite a useful feature.

Thanks.

Feel free to "recommend" it for inclusion by sendmail.org with my
permission. I do not request inclusion of improvements I do not use
personally and I do not write cf/README documentation for them :-)
