Hi,

Does anyone know if I can copy all of my mqueue files to another server
for processing? Is there any system specific info in the the "Qf" files?
(e.g. localhost). I have a completely overrun mail queue, and if I process
the queue and send emails at the same time, my load average goes through the
roof. Sending good emails quickly is my highest priority, so I am not
currently processing the queue. I realize that this is not the best way to
handle the situation, but I needed to quickly fix server responce time.

Thanks,

Mike Derheim

There is system specific information in "Received:" and other headers.

There is sendmail version specific information.

Apart from that, it will probably work for most messages if the
system you are moving the files to is the same version or a newer
version of sendmail.

However: Security caution:

If any of the queue files contain pipelines or file paths, such as
have originated from aliases or '.forward' files, then there will
be an attempt to run these same pipelines and do the same file
deliveries with the same uid/gid as on the system in which the
messages were received.
