Alpine not fetching Gmail messages

Hi,

I just installed Alpine on my OS X laptop and and configured it to
work with Gmail(IMAP). Problem is, I'm not able to retrieve any of my
messages or browse through the gmail folders (All Mail, Sent Mail
etc.). All of the IMAP information is correct and adding folders in
Alpine does update the Gmail label structure, so the IMAP connection
itself is working - i'm just not seeing any of my emails.

Any ideas?

I am successfully using Gmail via IMAP, but it is limited to INBOX. The
fact that any other folders are not shared between Gmail and IMAP is a
missing feature. (Then again, everything you send through their SMTP
with Alpine automatically shows up in Gmail.)

some blooper.
