The mutt manual(1) currently states that mutt only works with older
versions of mixmaster (2.04). Is that still true, or is the
documentation out of date?

Anyone come up with a workaround? If a message could be composed with
mutt, and stored in an outbox, and then later sent to mixmaster via
scripting, I'm fine with that. It would be useful to at least use
mutt for the composition and storage.

That manual is for version 1.4.2.3 . You need to use the 1.5 range of
mutt development. I am not sure at what level, so go for the most
recent.
