I also have a spam folder which is dumped by cron every 10
minutes.
Spam messages cause a beep, which I wish not to hear. I have my bogo so well
defined that I have never had a desired message sent to the spam folder so there
really is no need for me to check the folder to see what is in it.
So the question is: Is there a way and if so how do I tell mutt not to beep
when I receive a message that will be sent to the spam folder?

Protect your privacy. Replace Google with IXQUICK at www.ixquick.com.
If we do not wish to lose our freedom, we must learn to tolerate our
neighbor's right to freedom even though he might express that freedom
in a manner we consider to be eccentric.
If you don't care to be notified of new mail in your spam folder, don't
have Mutt monitor it for new mail. In other words, don't list it in
mailboxes. You can still navigate to the folder through the
change-folder dialog.
Otherwise, I am unaware of any means to set beep independently for
monitored folders.

Thank you for that.
Exactly what I will do.
Isn't it interesting how easily some problems are solved by the few that know
how to get to the root cause.
I only wish my brain worked.
Thanks again.
