I'm soliciting input from this group to find out whether there is a
need for such a solution for individuals and SMEs.
The solution would incorporate some remote fetching (via IMAP/POP) or
Outlook fetching (via an Outlook toolbar) that sends the emails
securely to our servers for archiving.
A web-based app woul allow mining, searching & auditing.

For most people, the simple search offered by all mail clients is good
enough.
Sorry, but you're too late. In the last month Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft
(maybe more, I stopped counting) have announced a desktop search toolbar
that will be capable of searching E-mail content.
Thanks for your input.
On the searching side, the difference for us is that ours is a hosted
solution so let's say you are traveling, you can still have access from
anywhere.
In addition, the mail clients and the desktop search toolbars do not
actually archive the emails securely via a remote server. So let's say
you had a huge computer crash that wiped our your hard drive, all your
mails will be lost.
Furthermore, we do data mining so you can get more out of your emails
because we present various "screens" of one click access to various
types of email content. Say, show me all my email newsletters or show
me all emails that deal with my bank account transactions, etc.
Cheers,
Terence
