Does anyone know how long E-mails are kept by AOL? Also, are instant
messages kept and if so, for how long?

Read the fine print in the AOL agreement: They reserve the right to save
and use any mail that you send or receive in any way that they choose.

I'm not sure about IM's, but version 9 allows you to store/save all e-mail
locally. As for how long they're held on the server if not retrieved, I'm
not sure.
