rc.conf or rc.local? howto autostart courierimap, -pop

Hello,
I'd like to autostart my courierimap/-pop servers on my NetBSD1.6 box.
rc.conf:
authdaemond=YES
courierpop=YES
courierimap=YES
did not help.
in rc.d I have links to authdaemond, courierimap & -pop.
calling them individually by hand works fine.
Do I have to state different info into rc.conf? Or do I have to call them
out of rc.local?
