WHAT is IMAP??

IMAP is a mail delivery protocal. In you use one of the WWW search engines
to look up IMAP or IMAP4 (the latest version) you should be able to locate
several RFCs on the protocal. I won't attempt to explain all of the advanced
features here. You can think of it as an enhanced pop server but it is
really much more than that. We have been testing an IMAP server and looking
at several IMAP mail clients. So far I like what I have seem. The major
PC mail client vendors had better get their act together and start supporting
IMAP servers or they will start loosing sales to the smaller vendors who are
responding to improved standards.

IMAP V4 does basically what POP 3 does, but much more intelligently.
