Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap

my gmail account has started throwing up the message,

"An error occurred during a connection to pop.gmail.com:995"

"Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption
algorithm(s)."

"(Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)"

I've tried deleting Google certificates in the hope that the email
client (Eudora OSE) might reload them, but this approach has not yet
worked.

This has just started happening recently.

Help, please?

Is it possible to find out what encryption algorithm Google is using
for gmail, and whether that setting could be applied to Eudora OSE?

I am seriously considering upgrading to Thunderbird. I have around
1,600 emails, many with attached files.

Is it *safe* to upgrade to TB? Do I risk losing any emails/data?

How do I upgrade, given that I have a 1,600 email message base
already? Do I just run the TB installer?

I moved to Thunderbird several months ago. It used to facilitate importing from
Eudora, but no longer does. But there is a workaround. You would need to download
the last version of Thunderbird that did allow it (31.6.0), install that and import
your Eudora data. Then update to the newest TB version. You will probably need to
make TB settings changes, but all your saved Eudora emails will be there.

Afraid you will find, as I have, that TB isn't nearly as good. No other email client
I've been able to find comes anywhere even remotely close to Eudora. I'm still in
mourning about having to make the change. :(

Sorry, but I overlooked the "OSE." Eudora worked beautifully for me as long as my
email was coming through Earthlink. But when I switched to gmail to head off a
possible sudden need to switch due to the Charter purchase of TWC and curtailing of
TWC's relationship with Earthlink, the problems started. First was the weekly need
to add the Google Mountain View, CA, certificate to the trusted list, sending and
receiving at different times usually. Then there were problems when I tried to
respond to html email after making notations in the body. Seems there was just one
thing after another.

I wish some interested company could get the copyright for Eudora, make only whatever
changes are necessary to bring it completely up to current standards and market it.
Either that, or somehow get Qualcomm's interest rekindled.

I'm still getting this problem, and today it is preventing me from
downloading any mail.

I know this is not a Eudora OSE newsgroup, but if anyone can suggest a
solution, it would save me some headaches.

I'm having the same problem. screen says:

An error occurred during a connection to p.liadm.com 443.

Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm

Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap

If you keep clicking the error message it eventually will clear and continue without a problem until it occurs again.

Is there a way to fix this???

I'm also looking for an answer but you can clear it more quickly by simply holding down the escape key until it disappears, about 2 seconds or less.
