One needs to set Eudora menu bar Tools -> Options... -> Checking Mail
-> "Secure Sockets when Receiving" to "Required, Alternate Port".
This will tell Eudora to use port 993.
The above may not be sufficient if one is using an SSL certificate on
the Exchange Server that Eudora does not trust. In this case, one
needs to do the following:
1) Temporarily switch Eudora from IMAP to POP (i.e. toggle the radio
button choice under "Incoming Mail").
2) Initiate a connection attempt (e.g. check new mail) to POP-SSL
(assuming that the Exchange server allows POP-SSL), which will then
error out that the certificate is not trusted.
3) Use the "Last SSL Info" button (under "Checking Mail") to tell
Eudora to trust the certificate.
4) Switch from POP back to IMAP. IMAP SSL should properly connect
now.
This would be a lot easier if Eudora would get the "Last SSL Info"
button to work under IMAP as well as POP.

Apparently, Eudora 6.2 will make this process considerably less
troublesome. See the release notes for details:
