I am working on a project to set up Eudora Pro for a mailing list of
1,000 addresses. The clients would prefer to use one folder containing
these addresses and create the list without data entry. Most of the
staff actually are not incredibly proficient typists.

I am flipping through the book called Using Eudora, but I think that
my questions may not be answered in this book. If this post cries
FAQ, then lead me to the URL. I'll entertain suggestions, including
those that require additional code/software.

Thanks

Vincent

How about additional information? You know, like what form is the list in
now? An ASCII file, a customer database, 1000 existing email messages from
the people on the list saying "put me on your list," addresses scribbled on
the backs of cocktail napkins, etc.....

Depending on the answer to this question, you may or may not be able to make
the nicknames list "without data entry." BTW, this is not a Eudora question.

Getting names into a computer is not a eudora question. But if we assumed
that the names were already in a computer in some discrete form (like, say,
just addresses in a text file), then at that point, it is a Eudora question.

What you would do is edit the file nndbase.txt in your Eudora folder,
and add a line which read:

alias <name> <all the addresses>

It works better if it's already created as a sample, by the way.

This line will probably be rather large. I've not tested it with enormous
lists, but you may have to break it down (<name>1 <name>2, etc).

In Christ's Love,
Michael, a sinner
