I just installed Eudora and can send mail without any problems. However,
when I attempt to retrieve mail from my HP-9000 configured with POP3, I
receive the message 'Connection Refused 10061'.
I would appreciate any assistance. I canot find this problem documented.

Usually results from incorrect POP configuration.

Hi Bob,

The eudora manual indicates that a 10061 error code may mean that port
address is incorrect or the server is bussy. It recomends checking
with your service provider.

Hope this helps

Eudora displays the following error when I try to send or check mail:

"Could not connect to (SERVER NAME). Cause: connection refused (10061)"

Here's something I found on the net
(www.inco.com.lb/htdocs/support/eudfaqs.html). Hope it's helpful:

Your TCP/IP software tried to open a connection to a port on your server
to get a service for
Eudora (SMTP or POP3) and that service did not respond. Try replacing in
the Special /
Settings or Special /Properties the server name by the server IP address.
Have the server
administrator check the server and make sure the services are available.
