While trying Eudora first time.And connecting to Erols.com I get
message'Could not find timestamp in banner to preform apop
authenication.Any help appreciated.

I had a user with this same problem once, but was never able to find a
satisfactory solution. I think I recommended downloading the latest
version and attempt to reinstall the software again, and this did fix the
problem, but as to what it is caused by I have no idea. I'd be interested
to know though.

Are you sure that Erols uses APOP authentication on its POP server(s)? Even
though it's superior to regular passwords (in that it doesn't send your
password over the net, or to your log file, in clear text), most ISPs don't
use it.

Try going to Tools / Options / Checking Mail / Authentication Style and
changing the selection from APOP to Passwords. Or, if Passwords is what is
already selected, try changing it from that to APOP (after being sure that
that is indeed what Erols is using).
